Posted by: | CommentsConnecticut offers a transitional bridge from hustle of nearby New York city to the south and the rural New England charm the north. Connecticut offers large casinos and 5 star resort spas as well as quaint seaside towns like Mystic. Remembered by many from Julia Robert’s first movie Mystic Pizza, the town is lined with maritime shops and eateries (including the popular Mystic Pizza). On your getaway here you can visit the Mystic Seaport Museum of America and the Sea, the Mystic Aquarium and spend an evening at Foxwood’s casino just up the road from Mystic.
New England Top Vacations: Rhode Island
Posted by: | CommentsRhode Island is the smallest state in the union, yet offers as varied an experience as any other New England state. From the walkable city of Providence, to the historic Newport mansions, the state can be a journey of it’s own. However, if you want to get outdoors and enjoy some of the best bike paths in the nation, you need to plan your getaway along the Blackstone Valley Bikeway. This path winds from the southern part of Massachusetts all the way down through Providence, RI and connects to the East Bay Bike Path along the Providence River to Bristol which is all part of the 3000 mile East Coast Greenway. Be sure to stay a night in Providence an enjoy the restaurants in the Downcity area or up on Federal Hill.

Many seek out natural beauty in the Berkshires to the west of the state, while others venture out to “the cape and islands,” i.e. Cape Cod, Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard on the Atlantic coast. But if you have never been to Boston, then your getaway must begin there. Boston offer’s more than just history, enjoy whale watching cruises, high end shopping on Newbury street and sumptuous Italian dining in the North End.

There is no shortage of winter skiing and summer boating throughout the state, the most amazing experiences are the scenic drives during the fall foliage. Speed up your airport security check in

With all of the riduculous security controls that have been establish since 9/11 we suddenly find ourselves further dreading the experience of traveling by airplane or in some cases crossing US borders to travel anywhere. Some new programs are being introduced to overcome these nonsensical restrictions that have been placed on the general traveling public.
Trusted Traveler Programs have slowly become available over the past few years. NEXUS was created for ease of travel across US/Canada border, SENTRI was implemented for US/Mexico border crossing and now a newer program called Global Entry is available for frequent international travelers.
The Global Entry program offers you an expedited checking at Immigration control. You must be 14 years of age or older and you must be a US citizen or lawful permanent resident of the US. There is a one time fee of $100. You can find out more at the website www.globalentry.gov or you can go ahead and register your application at https://goes-app.cbp.dhs.gov/
The Global Entry program does not apply to checkin at security points when entering the terminal gates for departing flights. You can find some tips for getting through this process at the TSA website at http://www.tsa.dhs.gov/travelers/airtravel/screening_experience.shtm Though I have not yet seen or heard of an express checkin program for the average traveler.
Best of luck traveling out there and remember to be patient and expect the worst. then you will be pleasantly surprised when everything goes smoothly.![]()
